A City With A View

Avenue Of The Arts, Central Avenue, Kansas City, MO

Play the Video

5.3 x 2.6 x 2 FT. Temporary Public Art Commission. Mixed media: zinc plated steel, video. This project consists of the creation of a simulacrum of a stereoscopic public telescope, comparable to the ones found all over the country at tourist sites. The one that I have created has a unique design that brings together complementary realities of fact and fiction. Through the Viewer, one will be able to see contemporary “urban fairies” in action, set against familiar backdrops of Kansas City street locations. This project invites viewers to be transported to the world of imagination and to get in touch with “The Child Within”, the one that brings humor and fantasy into our daily routine.
