In the Presence of Absence

Ridley-Tree Center, Santa Barbara, CA

Room-Sized. Site-Specific installation in collaboration with Lisa Kaftori. Mixed media: a 15 foot long bed, a pair of binoculars, a mirror with etched text, eucalyptus leaves and branches, an escape knot sheet, roses in a tear-drop vase, a straitjacket, 100 pairs of women’s gloves, a man’s handkerchief printed with the wedding photograph of Katherine and Stanley McCormick. The house and the people that inhabited it provided a point of departure to investigate issues of intimacy, regret, expectation, and the ability to overcome adversity.
