Mea Culpa

4 x 5 x 6 ft. Site-Specific Installation. Multiple media: soap, ink, embossed text, faucet, sink. This piece addresses the relationship between the cleansing of the body and the cleansing of the soul. Body parts have been cast in soap and arranged in a crucifixion pose. The continuous dripping of blue ink stains the surface of the sink in which a block of soap with the embossed text “mea culpa” is resting. The ink represents troubled consciousness, language, and guilt.
