BLUEprints of the Heart, 2005

University Art Gallery, Department of Art and Design, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA

This piece is a performance as well as a drawing, where the entire gallery became a sketchbook for a network of drawings, cut-outs, and stencils. This work embodies the notions of fragility and vulnerability, and embraces them as necessary building blocks of our inner emotional landscape.

Using drawing and construction materials, BLUEprints Of The Heart becomes an architecture of intimacy, always under construction, with no clear beginning or end.

This video captures my exploration of the performative and architectural dimension of drawing. Using the entire gallery as my page, Using drawing and construction materials, I created an architectural space of intimacy. BLUEprints Of The Heart is a performance as well as a drawing, and consists of a network of drawings, paper cut-outs, and stenciled forms that connect with one another in physical and philosophical ways. This piece is an expression of different emotions associated with the heart and constitutes a blueprint of this shared intimate space. This work embodies the idea of relationships, process, and inner transformation, always in progress, with no beginning and no end.
