In the Presence of Absence, 1994

A Site-Specific installation in collaboration with Lisa Kaftori. Katherine and Stanley McCormick lived in this house, known as McCormick House. Their life provided a point of departure to investigate issues of intimacy, regret, expectation, and the ability to overcome adversity.

Mixed media: a 15 ft-long bed, binoculars, etched mirror, eucalyptus leaves, escape knot sheet, roses, straitjacket, 100 pairs of women’s gloves, male handkerchief printed with the wedding photograph of Katherine and Stanley McCormick.
